UP police has ordered an independent post-mortem examination in Delhi.

On Saturday morning, a group of children, including the minor girl, had indulged in stone pelting over some issue. She had hurled a stone that had hit her cousin Debu. Later, Debu's father Ravindra Kumar (her father's brother) came to her house and slapped her for injuring his son Debu.

Sources said 15-20 minutes after the incident some neighbours heard the girl's cries and saw her burning. They took her to Saraswati Medical College on NH-24. The doctors referred her to GTB Hospital in Delhi where she died in the evening.

"Ravindra told the police that he had indeed slapped his niece but said he had nothing to do with the fire," SSP Raghubir Lal told Hindustan Times.

The minor's younger brother Saurabh Kumar (5), who was in the house, said, "Chacha (uncle) came and threatened us. Then my sister took the kerosene bottle and poured over herself."
