Five persons were killed and three injured when a sand-laden truck, in which they were returning after taking a holy dip in river Betwa on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, overturned near the Tikar ghat, they said.

In another incident, three persons were drowned in a canal near Khundela village and several others injured when a tractor trolley, which was carrying them, fell into the deep waters, police said.

The victims were on their way to attend a wedding, they said, adding that injured were admitted to nearby hospital.
