Are you interested in immigrating to Canada but do not know which vocation to get into? Instead of approaching immigration agencies that might dupe you, why not pursue a course that offers the best possible opportunities, as far as employment in Cananda is concerned. Like those offered by the Winnipeg-based Robertson College.
Ranging from modules in training as Healthcare Aid workers, Live-in-Caregivers, Integration into Canadian Nursing and Pharmacy Technology, Robertson College’s courses address the requirements of highly specialised and in-demand occupations. Says Kenneth David Penner, President, Robertson College, “The way the job scenario is the world over, it is imperative for students to obtain some vocational training in order to move forward with their careers. And Robertson College does just that — it offers a plethora of courses gearing towards giving you a vocation.”
The foremost among the courses conducted by the college includes a five-and-a-half month programme in Health Care Aid which equips graduates for positions as Home Care Attendants, Home Support Workers or Personal Support Workers. The Medical Office Assistant programme, on the other hand, enables students to develop a proficiency in a wide variety of areas ranging from medical terminology to automated charting and clinical skills. Graduates are qualified to work in hospitals, doctors’ offices, medical clinics, chiropractic-dental-physiotherapy clinics and insurance companies.
Robertson College also conducts a nine-month programme for those wishing to pursue a career in the rapidly growing field of Pharmacy. “The course enables students to learn computer skills, drug terminology and basic pharmacology in a simulated work environment,” says Penner.
Other courses run by Robertson include International Hospitality and Hotel Management, Legal Administration, Travel and Tourism, Veterinary Office Administration, Multimedia Applications and Network Engineering modules.
The eligibility criteria includes a 10+2 degree, clearing the Robertson College English entrance test as well as preferably a professional qualification in the field the student wants to pursue. But, what are the courses that Indians go in for? “Hotel Management and IT,” says Ajay Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, Abhinav, a placement-cum-educational consultancy that has a tie-up with Robertson College. “However, it is always better for a student to have already done a course in his/her field of interest. This enables him/her to get a deeper understanding of it as well as be able to comprehend the course in a much better way,” says Sharma.
And scale new heights of success!
