The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will file a 2000-page reply in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday on the civil defamation case filed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Jaitley has filed the defamation case against Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders. He had accused them of unfairly targeting him in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) scam, seeking damages of Rs 10 crore (PTI)
Jaitley had filed a criminal defamation complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders On December 21, 2015 for allegedly defaming him in the Delhi and District Cricket Board (DDCA) controversy before a Delhi court which took cognizance on his plea.
“All these allegations are baseless and devoid of truth. For a total sum Rs. 114 crore, we made a stadium with a capacity of taking 42,000 people. Contrary to that, the Congress built the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium spending Rs. 900 crores. No one raised doubts on that expenditure,” Jaitley had said in the Lok Sabha.
Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had declared that the probe committee formed by the Delhi Government to look into the affairs of the DDCA was `unconditional and illegal`.
