The duo was abducted from an area between Dimapur and Dillai police stations of Karbi Anglong district by unidentified militants while they were repairing a tower.
They were being constantly shifted from one area to another by the ultras and were on Saturday left abandoned in a house in a remote area.
Their health condition was good as the police managed to trace them out at around 2.30 pm after a long search operation.
While refusing to identify the militant group involved in the abduction, the police said extortion could be the motive behind the crime.
