Abdul Razzaq

Abdul Razzaq

india Updated: May 09, 2003 22:24 IST

Date of Birth: 2 December 1979, Lahore, Punjab
Test Debut: Against Australia at Brisbane in 1999/00
ODI Debut: Against Zimbabwe at Lahore in 1996/97
 Bats: Right Hand Bat
 Bowls: Right Arm Fast Medium

A natural with both bat and ball, Razzaq has been touted as the most complete all-rounder since Imran Khan.

His bowling - a masterclass in reverse swing - is the reason he first got noticed, but it is his batting which seems more likely to win matches.

"Rizzi" has an impressive array of shots and looks happiest driving through cover off both front and back foot.

He made his international debut against Zimbabwe in 1996/97, but only started to make his presence felt on the world stage two years later.

A solid contribution with the ball at the 1999 World Cup was followed by a strong run of series with the bat.

As a bowler he is stingy with runs and always contributes wickets to the cause and his runs off the bat come at a quick pace.

At 23, Razzaq, who has also been refered to as Abdur in the past, has a promising career ahead of him and many are tipping him as a future Pakistan captain.
