The Absolut fashion evening at Ssteel, Ashoka Hotel, turned out to be absolute chaos. Amid the hype and the hoopla on Saturday evening, guests and gatecrashers alike came out of the bar gasping for fresh air. With no elbow space inside, there was a lot of jostling. But what were Parikrama members doing there? Are they performing? To which, Chintan Kalra, the bass guitarist, said: “For a crowd like this? ”

Absolut managers shut the bar at 11 p.m., when the party was picking up. So what was the hoopla all about? Well, they’ve created the Mulit Cocktail Lounge (based on the eponymous hairstylist from a movie Mulit). The idea is to create a mini fashion fiesta to connect with the young. So, hairstylist Sylvie and accessory designer Vrinda Gokhale gave guests a hair makeover.

They also flew down Jonny Palfsson, a bartender who wrote Cocktails and brand ambassador Jan Toreheim from Sweden. “Absolut has always connected with the fashion community and worked with designers like Versace. Now we look forward to a healthy interaction with Indian designers,” said Toreheim. Well, we saw no designers, but plenty of musicians. Silk Route’s Mohit Chauhan was revved up about his new album. This, as usual suspects Shibani Kashyap, Vipin Aneja, Shankar Sawhney and Mika trooped in. As the city awaits the monsoons, we are parched for a party where some real celebs let their hair down.
