Police said the Third Additional District and Sessions Judge Naga Maruthi Sarma was presiding over the court when the litigant barged in and threw acid on him.

The judge was immediately rushed to hospital where he was treated. “There is nothing to worry,” Sarma said.

The court staff and lawyers immediately caught hold of the perpetrator, identified as Suryanarayana, and handed him over to the police.
