The members demanded absorption of teachers of additional classes against the 300 posts lying vacant in the AU and its constituent colleges, restoration of the additional classes and no reduction of seats in the varsity.
ACTAC members took out a silent procession from the KPUC hostel gate and reached VC's office in Senate Hall building to hand over a memorandum. The VC did, however, accept the memorandum but denied any assurance stating that he was not the sole authority and has to follow the norms set by the UGC. The teachers said that they fulfilled the norms of the UGC and were not inferior by any means to their counterparts in regular classes. They expressed resentment over the AU administration's decision to do away with the evening classes and said that they have served as teachers for ten years and have no alternate as most of them have crossed the maximum age limit to get a new job.
The teachers declared to continue their protest unless their demands were met by the authorities. Those present on the occasion were Dr Jitendra Nath Tiwari, Dr Alok Kumar, Dr Ramesh Singh, Dr Tuhina Pandey, Dr PP Singh Tomar, Dr Kumkum Srivastava, Dr Preeti Srivastava, Dr Seema Singh, Dr Smita Sinha, Dr Purnima Malviya, Dr Jitendra Dubey, Dr Deepak Parashar, Dr Alka Tripathi, Dr Arbind Singh, Dr Pratap Bahadur Patel, Dr Rajneesh Pandey, Dr Amresh Mishra, Dr Ashutosh Srivastava and Dr Ashutosh Shukla among others.
