The students assured the principal they would work towards restoring the glory of the college by assisting in establishing a normal academic environment on the campus. The principal, later at a meeting with senior teachers of the college, took the decision to reopen the college and start the commencement of classes in the all the three campuses of the college from September 4, 2006.
Following an agitation, the management had closed the college for an indefinite period from August 27.
Lathicharge condemned
SEVERAL STUDENT organisations condemned the lathicharge on students and expressed resentment over harassment of the students in different constituent colleges of Allahabad University (AU). The student organisations conducted meetings here on Sunday and discussed the recent incidents of harassment of the students.
All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) members expressed resentment over the replacement of Ewing Christian College (ECC) student’s union by the student’s council. In a communiqué AIDSO convener Jharna Malviya said the students demanded restoration of the student’s union.
Inqalabi Chatra Morcha (ICM) members also advocated for the student’s union in ECC and condemned the lathicharge on the students. ICM secretary Sandeep criticised the move to terminate the student’s union in the institutes of higher education.
ICM treasurer Jitendra and Yaduvansh said that AU administration has been depriving the students of their rights as evident from the denial of admission to AU student’s union in MA despite she was eligible for the admission.
ISDC students’ protest
ISWAR SARAN Degree College student’s union president Vishal Shukla continued the relay fast on the 49th day on Sunday. The students were protesting against the corruption and irregularities in the college.
