THE STATE Government, police and local administration today came in for both, praise and condemnation, from different quarters for their handling of the situation at Bhojshala in Dhar on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
The Hindu Jagran Manch, an umbrella organisation of several militant Hindu outfits, staged a dharna at Rajwada Chowk in Dhar today in protest against what Manch leaders termed as ‘atrocities on Hindus’ at Bhojshala on Basant Panchami day to appease the Muslim community. However, the dharna was peaceful.
According to information, a large number of Hindu activists participated in the dharna that continued till noon. Prominent leaders who participated in the dharna included Manch convener Radheshyam Yadav, Sant Murari Babu, VHP leaders Rajabhau Bhadhame and Ashish Vashu and ABVP leader Mukesh Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, Radheshyam Yadav demanded of the State Government to take immediate action against senior officials who were responsible for unleashing atrocities on Hindu devotees at Bhojshala who had gathered to offer prayers to Goddess Saraswati on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami on February 3.
He asked the State Government to investigate the matter and take action against the erring officials within seven days. The Manch convener warned of renewed agitation if no action were taken against the officials.
He accused the State Government of unleashing atrocities on Hindus just to appease the Muslim community. He said there was no necessity to stop the Hindus at 11.45 am, when the Muslims had to offer namaaz only after 1 pm. The administration’s step of stopping Hindu devotees
