"I have talked to Narendra Modi and Gujarat Home Minister Amit Bhai Shah and asked for a report on the violence in Vadodara," Advani told reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday.

He claimed that efforts were on to prevent further flare-ups in the city.

The Gujarat government, while following court orders on encroachments, will make efforts to curb violence and maintain communal harmony, Advani said.

Six persons have been killed in violence in the city that broke out after the demolition of a dargah on Monday.
