Advocates felicitate Ashok Nigam

AS LAWYERS can get their problems solved through the courts of law, they should firmly believe in the rule of law, said Dr Ashok Nigam, Additional Solicitor General of India for Allahabad High Court, here on Thursday.

AS LAWYERS can get their problems solved through the courts of law, they should firmly believe in the rule of law, said Dr Ashok Nigam, Additional Solicitor General of India for Allahabad High Court, here on Thursday.

Dr Nigam was addressing a programme organised by the Advocates’ Association in his honour. Dr Nigam is also the president of the Awadh Bar Association, High Court, Lucknow.

Addressing a big gathering of lawyers in the hall of Advocates’ Association, Dr Nigam said advocates derived their strength from intellect and not from muscles.

Referring to the struggle faced by the newcomers in the legal profession, he said this profession was no longer confined to the elite class. People belonging to all walks of life joined the profession and most of them had to go through long struggle.

On this occasion, president of the Advocates’ Association Satish Trivedi, while welcoming Dr Nigam, introduced him to the lawyers. He said Dr Nigam, with a long experience of politics and legal profession, would be an asset for the Government of India’s litigations at Allahabad High Court.

On this occasion Additional Advocate General of UP Adish C Aggarwala said that by creating the post of ASGI for Allahabad High Court and also by appointing Dr Nigam as ASGI, the Government of India had enhanced the prestige of the Allahabad High Court.

On behalf of the Advocates’ Association, president Satish Trivedi presented a scroll of honour to Dr Ashok Nigam. The programme was conducted by Ashok Trivedi. Others who attended  included Vimlesh Kumar Rai, Shambhu Chopra, Anubhav Trivedi, Sudhir Singh and several others.

Later, the Central Government Counsels at Allahabad High Court, also felicitated Dr Nigam at the circuit house and presented him a memento. Dr Nigam expressed his gratitude to the lawyers for giving him the honour. He promised to the Central government counsels to solve their problems to the best of his ability.

Others present on this occasion included former vice-president of the High Court Bar Association Harbansh Singh, former Treasurer Shree Rang Pandey, Vinay Pratap Singh Yadav, Satish Rai, Anil Pathak, Rajeev Kumar Shukla and others.
