On Sunday, Nazeer, the grand maternal uncle of Varsha, maternal uncles Kallu and Rauf, and her mother guddu poured petrol on Varsha and torched her. The alleged killers of Varsha were taking the dead body of Varsha to the brother of Hasan Khan in Sumalmi when police got the information and intercepted the body of Varsha and sent the same for Gwalior for postmortem.

The rural police registered a case of murder and started investigation. Meanwhile, angry at the burning alive of Sharma, the Brahman International organisation called on the IG Police Gwalior-Chambal, Sanjay Rana, with the family members of the deceased and submitted a memorandum to him.
