CENTRAL MINISTER of State for Home Affairs Sri Prakash Jaiswal said that Afzal case was being politicised. It was unfortunate that the martyrs? families were returning medals to pressurise the government to hang Afzal. He said one should allow the law of the land to take its own course. Jaiswal was speaking to media persons at Bijnor yesterday after attending the State conference of West Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Mandal as the chief guest. Addressing a large gathering of traders, he said the future of the country lay in serving the interests of the business community. This community’s contribution in the struggle for freedom had been great and the government could give them some relief by some relaxation in taxes.

On the law and order problem in the State, he said the Central government was fully aware of the situation, but the UPA government was an advocate of democratic values and was not in favour of toppling an elected State government.

In the conference which was presided over by the State president of West UP Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Neki Ram Garg, several trader leaders of the district and surrounding areas took part and apprised the minister with their problems.
