In a communication to EC, AIADMK advocates Wing Secretary P H Manoj Pandian referred to reports of EVMS being allegedly tampered with in Tirunelveli and Coimbatore districts and urged that the EC should probe the matter. "We request EC to conduct a thorough inquiry by an independent agency into tampering of EVMs at Tirunelveli and Coimbatore. The EC may take cognizance of newspaper reports and take action in accordance with law to prevent such malpractices which are being done by officials at the behest of ruling DMK," he said.

The party also demanded deployment of paramilitary forces in all the 91 counting centres and permission to AIADMK candidates and their agents at counting centres 'round the clock', to prevent tampering of EVMs.

Pandian said important decisions were being contemplated by the state administration "despite the fact that the election process is on and the model code of conduct in force".

"I therefore request the EC to monitor and ensure that no decision is taken with regard to the administration except maintenance of law and order till the completion of election process," he said.
