AIDS helpline soon, says V-C

VICE-CHANCELLOR of the DDU Gorakhpur University Prof Arun Kumar said here on Friday that a helpline would be launched to curb rising AIDS cases in eastern UP. He said a counselling centre would be set up on the campus to impart education to the students about AIDS.

He said a counselling centre would be set up on the campus to impart education to the students about AIDS.

He was addressing a seminar on ‘AIDS an Epidemic and the Responsibility of Literate Youths’ at the university conference hall.

Chief guest chief medical superintendent of the district hospital Dr AP Dwivedi said the spread of AIDS was the biggest challenge before the medical science.
He also focused on the symptoms of the disease and said the first case of AIDS was detected in 1981 and so far 6.5 million people were afflicted with HIV. The dreaded disease claimed 2.5 million lives.

Dr Dwivedi also threw light on the latest report of the World Health Organisation and said around 58 lakh people in India were tested for HIV positive.

Quality education

LITTLE FLOWER Mission is working to bring the poor and the deprived into the mainstream of the society by imparting quality education to them.

Little Flower has also decided to run a vocational training institute for the youths. The institute has been established at Jungle Sikri near Khorabar to impart training to the unemployed youths.

Public relation officer of the Little Flower Mission father Jones Manjerial said that the mission also established a rehabilitation centre for the unclaimed child, and 11 children were residing at the centre.

RSS rally

HUNDREDS OF RSS activists on Friday took out a motorcycle rally from DAV Degree College and raised slogans, stating that Vande Matram recital should be made conuplsory.

The procession that started from DAV Degree College passed through Ghasi Katra, Sahibganj, Laldiggi, Hansupur, Turkmanpur, Alhedadpur, Nakhas Chowk, and Andhiyaribagh.
