The preparations for the national-level entrance examination is almost complete at the Deemed University and over 35 invigilators have been short-listed to be deployed to hold free and fair examination on the D-day. The centre in-charge of AIEEE-2006 at MNNIT, Prof Rajeev Tripathi informed that the examination will be conducted in two shifts: From 9.30 am to 12.30 am and 2 pm to 5 pm at main building premises. It may be mentioned here that All India Engineering Examination is conducted by Central Board for Secondary Education for BTech, BE courses of all 18 National Institute of Technology (NITs), three Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and three self-financed universities.

The regional office of CBSE, which is situated at Allahabad, will co-ordinate the examination to be held at Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Kanpur, Lucknow, Noida and Varanasi simultaneously.

"We are taking extra precautions this time around in the wake of the recent case in which use of ultra-modern devices like pen-scanners to scan the question papers of competitive examinations and transferring them to mobile phones having bluetooth facilities came to light. For this, mobile phones have been banned and intensive checking will be carried at the entry points of the examination centre. Anybody trying to use unfair means and impersonate a genuine examinee or any other such attempts coming to light will be dealt with severely," informed Prof Rajeev Tripathi.

He said that after procuring and establishing the real identity of the impersonating person and the real candidate, the case will be referred to Station Officer concerned of the local police station.

A team of special observers from Delhi too will be present during the exams to keep a hawk's eye on the entire examination procedure.

Prof Tripathi also informed that a formal meeting of all centre superintendents will be held on the eve of the examination on April 29 at the CBSE regional office to discuss the finer points of the exam.

The examination will be followed by declaration of the result after which MNNIT will gear up once again for the counselling of the qualifying students. It is worth mentioning that MNNIT is the only nodal centre for holding the counselling for the successful students of UP and Uttaranchal. The counselling is expected to take place some time in mid-June, added Prof Rajeev Tripathi.
