Kamble had been rushed to the hospital on Monday after he complained of stomachache. “He suffered from suspected sub-acute intestinal obstruction. His post-mortem suggests he died due to hanging. We have formed a committee to inquire as to whether there were any lapses on the administrative front,” said acting dean of the hospital, Dr D.V. Kulkarni.
“He didn’t say anything that would have alerted me of this extreme step,” said Kamble’s wife, Yamini (45).
Kamble’s relatives and the police suspect he was depressed because of his illness. The Kalwa police has registered a case of suicide.
