Air India Express shifts headquarters to Kerala

Air India today said it has decided to shift the headquarters of its wholly owned subsidiary, Air India Charters Limited (AICL), to Kochi in Kerala.

Air India on Thursday said it has decided to shift the headquarters of its wholly owned subsidiary, Air India Charters Limited (AICL), to Kochi in Kerala. However, the engineering wing of the company will operate from Thiruvananthapuram, a company press release said.

AICL, which runs Air India Express, is currently headquartered in Mumbai. The decision comes following the AICL Board approving the proposal to this effect on October 8 this year, the release said.

"The headquarters of Air India Charters Ltd (AICL) will be shifted to Kerala in pursuance of a decision taken on October 8, 2010 in the 178th meeting of the Board of AICL," the release said.

All operational and administrative functions will henceforth shift to Kochi, while the engineering functions for AICL will be at Thiruvananthapuram, it said.

Air India Express presently connects 16 Indian cities to 14 international destinations with a fleet of 21 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
