Senior airline officials took the opportunity to ask the Kerala government to reduce sales tax on aviation fuel in the state.

Talking to reporters, Air Sahara President Alok Sharma said sales tax on aviation fuel in Kerala was the highest in the country and a reduction would enable the aviation industry to operate more flights focusing on tourism development, he said.

Air Sahara had plans to start services to Maldives and Sri Lanka from Thiruvananthapuram, he said.
