CITY’S ROWER Ajay Keer is undergoing training at the national coaching camp underway at AP Rowing Academy, Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad, from January 9.

In all, 11 best rowers of the country and one coach have been invited to participate in the camp. The camp is being organised to select the national rowing team for the Asian Games to be organised later this year.

Taking the initiative, Director Sports Sanjay Chaudhary has announced economic support for Keer. “He has immense talent. Our objective through economic is just to give message that sports department is always committed for the development of sports and welfare of players”, said Chaudhary.

Keer is a regular member of Water Sports Centre of Directorate Sports, Upper Lake. He won the gold medal in the recent 26th National Junior Rowing Championship that organised at the centre. This was the only gold won by the State in the championship.

His coach Mohan Shakya is confident of his good performance in the future. “In a span of just six months, he has proved his talent”, said Shakya.

Director Sports Sanjay Chaudhary, Water Sports centre in-charge Jalaj Chaturvedi and others extended good wishes for him.
