ALL ARRANGEMENTS have been made to ensure free and fair polling in the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) election, which will be held on Thursday at the scheduled time from 10 am to 4 pm at the cricket field of the High Court on Kanpur Road.

Giving this information, Chief Returning Officer Haider Hussain asked the genuine members to come to the court to cast their vote with their identity cards of the UP Bar Council or the High Court Bar Association . No member would be allowed to cast his vote without identity card, he said.
The CRO warned that no one except genuine voters would be permitted to cast vote. He said that the election would be held amid tight security and adequate police and para military force would be deployed on the High Court premises. All arrangements had been made to avoid any mishap, he reiterated.
Other Returning Officers- PK Singh, RK Ojha and MC Chaturvedi said that to ensure free and fair elections, there would be several entry and exit gates at the polling centre. Further, to ensure free and fair polling, the entire election would be videographed.
All formalities for conducting a free and fair election had been completed, said the ROs, who asked the candidates not to venture near the polling booths or distribute slips/ bills either themselves or through their supporters. They said that if any candidate was found distributing bills/slips or pamphlets or violating the code of conduct, his candidature would be cancelled without any notice.
Meanwhile, Dr CP Upadhayay, a candidate for the post of general secretary of High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has promised to fight for the rights of advocates if given a chance to represent the body.
Addressing media persons here on Wednesday, Upadhayay said arranging for advocates’ chamber on the High Court premises was his top priority. He said advocates’ number had risen and they should be given proper seating arrangements. He also promised to introduce group insurance policy for the lawyers.
Listing his other preferences, he said the High Court library should be made hi-tech and stress should also be on cordial relations between the Bench and the Bar. He also advocated for a complaint cell.
Meanwhile, senior advocates like Ram Shiromani Shukla, IK Chaturvedi, Sanjeev Pandey, VP Srivastava, BN Singh, Dr OP Singh, Rajesh Yadav, Panchu Ram Maurya, JP Pandey, Rakesh Chandra Upadhaya, Rakesh Srivastava, Anil Srivastava Shastri, Pankaj Srivastava, Mritunjay Ray, Mangla Rai and Basarat Ali Khan declared their support for Upadhayay.
