THE NUMBER of people who were present at various programmes held on the occasion of BR Ambedkar Jayanti here on Friday was indicative of the fact that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was gearing up for the coming Vidhan Sabha elections.

This was evident from the fact that various committees, involved in celebrating the occasion, were, directly or indirectly, supported by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). This clearly indicated that there was a signal from the party leaders to show the strength this time.

The three main committees, which took out processions on the occasion, included Dr BR Ambedkar Committee, Mcrobertsganj, Dr BR Ambekar Janmotsav Samiti and the one from the Eidgah area.

The Janmotsav Samiti comprising HBTI students and faculty members organised a huge awareness camp at Nana Rao Park in front of Phoolbagh.

Reacting to the number of participants, a district administration official said that the increased strength of crowd at various rallies and functions was indicative of the fact that the BSP was getting ready for the assembly elections next year.

The presence of BSP cadres and leaders, holding party flags, also corroborated the views of the district official.

The people of the city also felt that this time the number of participants in various programmes increased. Besides number of participants, the number of vehicles also went up, A regular participant of the procession from Eidgah Ambedkar Jayanti Committee said that this time the number of vehicles shot up.
