The designer, Amit Gupta joined NIFT in the year 2000. When he was in his first year of the college, he was a winner at a prestigious international competition for young designers called 'CIAE International Fashion Awards'.

In January 2003, he launched his own prêt label called 'Senses by Amit GT' which was a runaway success. Recently, he rechristened the label as 'Amit GT' which is one umbrella for all his prêt, diffusion and couture lines.
He had been doing menswear ever since the inception of his label, however, recently, he has forayed into women's wear and launched the collection at Asia Fashion Week 2005 held in Singapore which was highly successful.
Even though, for women's wear, he is only one collection old, he is getting tremendous response and appreciation from around the world. In near future, he plans to widen his retail base through corporate tie-ups and franchise arrangements.
