Ammunition of 1965 Indo-Pak war recovered in Jammu

The local police have recovered a cache of ammunition dating back to the 1965 Indo-Pak war from Trota area along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu district. During 1965 Indo-Pak war, there was a bunker in the area which had collapsed and the ammunition got dumped that resurfaced during the recent rain and flashfloods.

The local police have recovered a cache of ammunition dating back to the 1965 Indo-Pak war from Trota area along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu district.

Police dug out over 1,300 rounds of ammunition, which included 564 rounds of SLR and 813 rounds of Carbine, besides a hand grenade, in the presence of the army from the Trota area of Jourian in Akhnoor tehsil of the district on Wednesday, a police officer said.

The ammunition and explosive device were in two boxes and were in unusable condition, the officer said, adding that the police were informed about the cache by local residents.

During 1965 Indo-Pak war, there was a bunker in the area which had collapsed and the ammunition got dumped. It resurfaced during the recent rain and flashfloods, he said.
