Ancient coins found during digging
SIXTY copper coins of ancient period have been found during the digging of foundation of an old house at Kanudeeh village under the Shivpur police station on Tuesday.
The district administration has sent them to the Archeology department to find out their exact historical period.
According to information, there is an ancestral house of Bhageluram in Kanudeeh village. His son, Vijay and grandson, Raju, were digging the foundation in a portion of the house premises for construction of a new room.
During the digging, an earthen pot, consisting copper coins was found by the father and son.
Soon, this news spread like wild fire in the village and hundreds of villagers thronged the house to have a glimpse of coins with curiosity.
Meanwhile, district magistrate Nitin Ramesh Gokarn soon after getting the information, sent the additional city magistrate (4th) to the spot to seize the coins to find out their historical aspect.
