While the police were on their toes before and after the Holi owing to the riots in Aminabad area and the blasts in Varanasi, the procession held its reputation to harmony between Hindu-Muslims of the area and participation in each others festivities.

Holi Ki Baraat by Hindus, as usual started from the Akbari Gate with elephants, horses and horse carriages throwing gulal and colours in the air and on the people, and when the procession reached the Chowk Mandi, Muslims held a warm reception by showing petals, flowers on the people in the procession. They gave sweets and refreshments to the people in procession and then Hindus and Muslims hugged each other and played Holi.
