Animation: Challenges/threats faced

Too many Indian animators are coming from software and IT backgrounds and do not understand the basics of art, drawing, filmmaking, camera work, animation or lighting.

Most Indian animated features are based on Indian mythology. There is a dearth of original Indian characters, especially those that might have a global appeal.
Other Asian countries such as Taiwan, Vietnam and China are starting animation studios that compete with India for outsourced work.
Too many Indian animators are coming from software and IT backgrounds and do not understand the basics of art, drawing, filmmaking, camera work, animation or lighting.
There is a lack of government support for and promotion of the industry.
There is an acute shortage of manpower and lack of quality training institutes.
