ALLEGATIONS ABOUT anomalies in the UP Board evaluation process have raised a question mark over its creditability. Several examiners have, therefore, urged for a total review of the process to make it effective.

Sources said the way teachers were briefed by the Board was not fair and alleged that malpractice’s began from the initial level.
Citing the example of one evaluation centre, the DAV Inter College, where complain was lodged with the police against a fake evaluator. The examiner number allotted to him was 28553 and his name was Aklesh Kumar. According to information, the ‘examiner’ was removed as teacher from the college five years back. When the ‘examiner’ came to know an inquiry into his appointment was on, he stopped coming for work.
Talking to Hindustan Times, state secretary of the Madhyamik Shishak Sangh (Thakurai group) Rajendra Prasad alleged that improper detailing of evaluators by UP Board authorities was adversely affecting the Board’s image.
Prasad said to make the system better, competent examiners should be detailed for duty according to their education abilities. Therefore, degree class teachers should not be detailed to examine answer books of high school and similarly those who teach in high schools should not be detailed to examine Intermediate copies. “Answerscripts should be evaluated by those who are experienced in teaching in the concerned class and subject,” he added.
Moreover, some other anomalies too have come to light. These have contributed to dissatisfaction and poor management. According to Prasad, teachers of many Intermediate schools in the city had not been included for evaluation work like Gyan Bharti Girls Inter College, Birhana Raoad, Muslim Jubilee Girls Inter College, Jawahar Lal Inter College and many more, whereas, degree college teachers were detailed.
Payment imbalance payment for different duties during evaluation work was also causing problem. Therefore, the revision of the same was must, many teachers demanded.
According to information a teacher performing ‘Kothar duty’ (where all copies are kept under safe custody) gets Rs 350 for his entire job. Similarly, the deputy controller of the evaluation centre gets Rs 600 for his duty.
One of the ‘Kothar duty’ in-charge at PPN Inter College, RP Rathour, said we are lowly paid but evaluators for high school and Intermediate get Rs 4 and Rs 5.50 per copy, respectively. “It makes a handsome amount,” he said. He added that most performed ‘Kothar duty’ under pressure from their authorities.Talking to HT, principal of one of the evaluation centres, PPN Inter College, Ram Dev said the amount was very meager in comparison to the responsibility.
