The Rangers opened heavy fire early Saturday — the 38th truce violation so far — to assist a group of infiltrators. The Border Secuity Force men, however, foiled the bid, IG, Jammu Frontier, A.K. Surolia, said. Analysts say violations are aimed at “reassuring the Kashmiri militants that their cause is not abandoned.”A senior army officer, refusing to be quoted, said, “Pakistan continues to play the old game of pushing in as many militants as possible before it snows because recruitment and training has taken a hit over the last two years.”
