Sex crimes against women showed no signs of abatement in the city as police reported one more case in which a 40-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by her son’s friend.

The 24-year-old accused —Babasaheb Waghmode — has been arrested following a complaint filed by the woman at Chinchwad police station, police said on Thursday.
The accused, according to the complaint, called on the woman at her residence saying her son was lying in a drunken state on the nearby Ravet road. He then took the woman in his car to trace the boy and raped her after parking the vehicle at a remote spot on Tuesday, police said.
The woman was dropped back to her house by the accused who told her to keep mum. The car which he used has a line written on its rear in Marathi which means “Blame your beauty”, sources added.
The city has been a witness to sex crimes over the last fortnight which included two cases of gangrape involving a married woman and a 19-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by two army jawans.
