THE HEALTH Department?s anti-quack team conducted raids on half-a-dozen clinics of unauthorised practitioners in Karma Bazaar locality on Tuesday. Led by Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr VN Pathak and legal cell in-charge CL Gupta, the team members sealed at least three clinics and also issued notices to unregistered practitioners asking them to produce their qualification certificates at the CMO office on December 6.

Led by Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr VN Pathak and legal cell in-charge CL Gupta, the team members sealed at least three clinics and also issued notices to unregistered practitioners asking them to produce their qualification certificates at the CMO office on December 6.
The Health Department team first raided the clinic of Dr MA Shahid at Karma Bazar near Sabzi Mandi. The clinic was running by gram pradhan Lalchand Patel in the absence of Shahid. The team closed the clinic and issued notice to Patel, directing him to produce the doctor’s medical degrees and registration number at the CMO office. The team also closed the pathology lab of Akhilesh Patel at Karma Bazar. Patel was also found missing from the pathology lab.
The team found that an unqualified practitioner Dr AK Singh was running a dental hospital. He failed to produce any certificates relating to his qualification. He informed that he was an assistant of a dental surgeon in Allahabad. The team seized his display board and other material from the hospital and asked him to produce certificates in support of his qualifications.
Similarly, a clinic of BAMS doctor was also found empty at the time of raid in Karma Bazaar. The team closed the clinic and issued notice to the doctor.
During the raid of Mahfuz Clinic at Dhodhapur, the team found that the CMO office’s registration number was missing from the letterhead. The registration number was also not mentioned on the clinic’s display board.
The team also raided the clinic of an intermediate student at Nibi village, near Dhodhapur. “The boy named Brijmohan had worked in some hospital as compounder and on the basis of his experience he opened a clinic, said Dr VN Pathak.
Talking to HT, Dr Pathak said all the unregistered and unauthorised practitioners were issued notice to produce their valid documents at the CMO office. In case they fail to turn up, FIR would be lodged against them, he added.
