Reacting to AK Antony's anti-communist stand, CPI General Secretary Bardhan said he has succumbed to the BJP and was a liability to a secular, democratic government formation.

"Antony has proved to be a man who never opened his mouth to criticise BJP. People like him will be a liability and are unwelcome to the secular democratic formation, he told a meet-the press programme here.
Lashing out at the functioning of the UDF government in the state, he said many of Antony's steps were 'unbecoming' of a Chief Minister.
When it was pointed out that Antony might campaign for the CPI candidate at Coimbatore, Bardhan said "let him confine the campaigning to the state itself".
Asked whether the attack on Antony was because the LDF was fighting UDF in Kerala, Bardhan said it was only due to the policies adopted by the Chief Minister.
