Using the platform of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, producers, UTV screened a short trailer to introduce Anurag Basu’s Metro. Present at the the Q&A session, along with Ronnie Screwvala of UTV and Basu were three cast members: Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja and Kangana Ranaut.

The film also stars Kay Kay Menon, Konkona Sensharma, Irrfan and Sharman Joshi with music by Pritam.

Basu described the film as, “A celebration of life. Metro is a fun, musical film about people coping with fast-paced city life”." Ranaut added that the film has three inter-connected stories. She plays Neha, “A girl from a small town who comes to the big city and is willing to take any short cut to get her break.”

Although Shiney Ahuja’s film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi was a big festival favourite, he said IFFI was his first film festival. “I was a newcomer then and not invited,” he joked, before adding, “My character in Metro is a guy who is so busy chasing dreams that he loses all that matters.”

Though she has been to Cannes, this was Shilpa Shetty’s first IFFI. “I couldn’t make it the year Phir Milenge was screened but I am glad Metro is being promoted on such a prestigious platform,” she said before describing her character of Shikha as “a very urbane woman who is a mother, wife and lover.”

Asked to compare IFFI with other festivals, Screwvala said, “Every concept needs a few years to mature and IFFI is heading towards being a meaningful event. We thought it was a lovely platform to launch new concepts, hence the introduction to Metro.”
