Ardh Kumbh: DM sets Dec 1 deadline

Addressing the review meeting for Ardh Kumbh 2007 on Saturday, Amrit Abhijat said all the departments were expected to meet the deadline. "Because then only we could ensure timely facility to the visitors," he added.
The district magistrate directed the Allahabad Development Authority to put glowsign boards at various places, indicating important places and roads in the city. The power department should number the electricity put up by them. The health department should also number the toilets in the Mela. "The ADA's guest house should be renovated.
The ADA should also purchase two additional motor boats for the Ardh Kumbh. They should immediately present a budget proposal in this regard," he added.
A budget of Rs 47.42 crore was allocated to PWD, primarily for the construction of roads and 14 pontoon bridges. The Jal Nigam was allotted Rs 31.93 crore to set up eight permanent tube-wells. The Jal Nigam will also lay down three-and-a-half kilometer long pipe line for water supply in the Mela area.
The power department was allocated Rs 45 crore for establishing 35 permanent highmast (with 11 feet height) and 30 temporary highmast. It was also decided that highmast will also be set up by Nagar Nigam, DUDA and ADA in different parts of the city.
The officers including Meladhikari Pragyan Ram Mishra, Additional Mela Adhikari Dr SK Pandey, Municipal Commissioner SN Srivastava, Dy GM Power Corporation Shakti Singh, Mela Nodal Officer AP Mishra and GM Jal Sansthan Rashid Khan were present at the meeting.
