Are suspended BIC officers returning?

RUMOURS WERE rife in the British India Corporation (BIC) about re-instating suspended top management officials including CMD. However, no one seems too sure about the possibility of the return of suspended CMD RR Kanojia and few say that for better results the newly appointed chief vigilance officer DIG Raghwendra Awashthi may be given additional charge as CMD.

Meanwhile, senior officers will be leaving for Delhi to attend the board meeting on May 5, to discuss the restart of Elgin Mill along with the revival prospective of Cawnpore Textile Mill and BIC at Union Ministry of Textile informed sources.

According to sources, senior officers of BIC who are likely to represent the proposed board meeting, include CMD VK Goel, BIC chief vigilance officer DIG Raghwendra Awashthi, senior legal officer and administrative officer RK Mishra and additional chief vigilance officer Anil Mishra along with few other official.

For the last few months, two top officials of the BIC management are facing suspension along with departmental inquiry. Therefore, the revival programme of BIC and its subsidiaries was suffering, said a few BIC officials on anonymity. It seems that after the recent notice issued to BIC by the BIFR during the hearing of modified revival scheme on April 19, 2006 it has sent signals to authorities concerned for providing proper management, so that all policies being proposed for revival of BIC and its mill should go according to norms.
