It might be said that Ashish Nehra has not quite lived up to his billing. A nippy left-arm pacer from Delhi, Nehra was hailed as India's answer to quality fast bowling, but injury has dogged his career. He likes to move the ball off the wicket and the very fact of being a left-arm bowler gives him that angle that most batsmen find most annoying to play.
Though he has yet to take a five-wicket haul in Test cricket, he did get Brian Lara three times in four games. No doubt, if he is able to put his fitness problems behind him, Nehra does have the ability to be one of India's main strike bowlers for a long while yet.
Strengths: The advantage of being left-handed; able to move the ball late; can go up to the 90-mph mark at times
What others say: 'Nehra has shown during his brief international career that he can trouble the very best.' BBC Sport 'He makes no secret of aping Wasim Akram.
The mannerisms have been copied to the minutest details right from the run-up to the final delivery stride. Nothing wrong in wanting to emulate an illustrious performer and Ashish Nehra realises very well that his best bet is to try and follow in the footsteps of the Pakistani speedster.'
