Asiad: Sania storms into singles final

The 20-year-old Indian star defeats Na Li of China, who is the top Asian player and ranked 21st in the world.

Sania Mirza upset top seed Na Li of China to storm into the final of the women's singles tennis event at the Asian Games on Tuesday.

The fourth seeded Indian thrashed her Chinese opponent 6-2 6-2 in the semifinal at the Khalifa complex.

The 20-year-old Indian star broke the 24-year-old Li, who is the top Asian player and ranked 21st in the world, in the first and fifth games of the first set.

Sania broke twice more in the second set, in the third and fifth games, to romp home in one hour and six minutes.

Sania, who is ranked 66th, will take on another Chinese Jie Zheng (33rd), who defeated Aiko Nakamura of Japan 6-3 6-2 in the other semifinal, for the gold medal.
