Assam hospital staffers throw baby in dustbin

In yet another case of callousness towards children, a baby misunderstood to be stillborn was thrown into a bin at a hospital in Assam's Majuli island. HT reports.

In yet another case of callousness towards children, a baby misunderstood to be stillborn was thrown into a bin at a hospital in Assam's Majuli island. It was only a little later when the baby started crying that staff took note and handed over the baby to the parents.

Ananta Medhi took his wife Juri to Garamur Civil Hospital for a check-up on Tuesday. Doctors allegedly rushed Juri to the operating theatre while sending Medhi off to register for check-up. Juri was told she gave birth to a stillborn.

"I have sought a report from the district dy commissioner,” health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. HTC
