Assam: Two injured in train collision

Two persons were injured when the Kalangpar Express collided with a goods train while shunting at Haibargaon Railway Station in Nagaon district of Assam on Monday morning.

Two persons were injured when the Kalangpar Express collided with a goods train while shunting at Haibargaon Railway Station in Nagaon district of Assam on Monday morning.

After dropping passengers at Guwahati Railway Station, the empty bogies of Moirabari-Guwahati Kalangpar Express were proceeding to Haibargaon for parking when it overshot a signal and hit the goods train resulting in the derailment of the goods train engine, railway officials said.

The incident took place at 7.20am.

A guard and a pointsman supervising the shunting were among the injured. They were rushed to a hospital, they said.
