AU V-C to deliver talk at Finland

ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajen Harshe will meet Vice-Chancellor of the Tampere University of Finland on September 5. Both the VCs will hold talks to explore the possibilities of starting an academic exchange programme between the two varsities.

Prof Harshe, who left Allahabad for New Delhi on Friday and will catch flight for Finland during the wee hours of Sunday, will also deliver a talk on ‘European Union and India: A Critical Perspective’ on September 4 during his visit to Finland.

India shares good relations with most European countries and each year a large number of Indians go to these countries as skilled and semi-skilled workers. It is because of this fact that India will like strengthen its relations with the most EU countries including Finland.

Prof Harshe, who is the vice-chairman of EU Studies, an association for promoting and facilitating research studies on different aspects of fallout for India of the EU activities and policies, will aim at strengthening the prospects of inter-regional co-operation between India and EU.

The VC is expected to rejoin the AU on September 9 till. During his absence, the head of AU psychology department Prof Janak Pandey will officiate as the VC.
