A case has been registered against four persons. One of them has been arrested by the Firozabad police.

Rakesh Kumar, the autorickshaw driver, was hired by the woman for taking her to Ganga Nagar locality in Firozabad on Saturday night.

On reaching home, the woman complained to her family that the driver had looted her jewellery. After the woman identified the driver, her brother Vishnu and another person struck him with a baton and a power cable resulting in his death.

The attackers placed the body in the auto-rickshaw and moved away.

Police sent the body for post-mortem on Saturday. The post-mortem confirmed that Rakesh died because of the injuries he sustained.

On Sunday, the agitated family members of the driver put up a road block and demanded arrest of the culprits, besides compensation of Rs 10 lakh. Other auto-rickshaw drivers joined the protest, blocking the highway in Firozabad.

Firozabad police registered a case of murder against Vishnu Verma, Pawan Kumar, Sanjay Yadav and Pappu Baghel. Circle Officer (City) Rajesh Chaudhary said Pappu Baghel was arrested. "A search is on for the others," he added.

Earlier, a drunk youth, who allegedly misbehaved with a girl, was lynched in Agra. The 22-year-old youth, Jeetu, was beaten to death by family members of the girl in his mother's presence. The Agra police are yet to make any arrest in that case.
