AWWA workshop to throw light on foetus care

Though the modalities of the workshop are yet to be worked out, President of Army Wives? Welfare Association (AWWA) Kiran Nandrajog said the move was very fruitful since it involved pregnant ladies.
MOVING A step ahead, Asha School for the mentally challenged has decided to hold a workshop on preventive care of a child in the mother’s womb. Though the modalities of the workshop are yet to be worked out, President of Army Wives’ Welfare Association (AWWA) Kiran Nandrajog said the move was very fruitful since it involved pregnant ladies.
The workshop would be held in association with the National Trust of India (NTI). “We will pursue with the NTI to hold the workshop in the Asha,” she reiterated. The discussion was a part of a media tour to various welfare centres being run by the AWWA, an NGO.
Asha School is among 30 others in the country to cater to the needs of the mentally challenged children of the soldiers. “We are also admitting children from civil areas,” she added. Describing the objective of the school, president of AWWA said the main reason for running the centres was to ensure that every individual was self-sustained.
The media team was taken to other centres too. “The welfare measures are focused on women empowerment, human resource development and improvement in the quality of life,” said the president. Vice president Neena Vasudeva and other members of the association accompanied her. On priority, main areas for concern are self-betterment, health, educational incentives, vocational training, adult education, and awareness, economic independence, and socio-legal and welfare of army wives.
The central command aims at providing the fullest possible help to all the ‘Veer Naris’ for their rehabilitation in all spheres, especially legal and financial advice and assistance in job placement, said the AWWA president. Vocational courses, career counseling centres, nursery school are some of the ventures that are being run by the AWWA.
