Babri case: SC hearing on Advani's role on Monday
The SC is likely to hear on Monday a petition seeking Advani's trial as per the chargesheet filed by CBI in 1993.
Close on the heels of an order asking BJP president LK Advani to face trial in the Ayodhya demolition case, the Supreme Court is likely to hear on Monday a petition seeking his trial as per the chargesheet filed by CBI in 1993 and to quash the "diluted" one filed by the agency in 2003 dropping conspiracy charges against him.

Petitioner Wajahat Ansari had said that the CBI in May 2003 had filed the chargesheet against Advani and 49 other accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including the section 120B (conspiracy).
In May 2003, almost a decade after the first chargesheet was filed, the CBI submitted a fresh chargesheet in crime No 198/1992 dropping the conspiracy charge against Advani, who was then the Union Home Minister.
Ansari in his petition alleged that the CBI had conducted no substantial additional investigation to come to the conclusion to drop the conspiracy charge and has pleaded that the trial should proceed as per the original chargesheet filed by CBI in 1993.
The other petition, listed for hearing on Monday, is filed by Mohd Aslam Bhure, who had challenged the Allahabad High Court order of 2002 quashing the state government notification for setting up the special court at Lucknow.
After the High Court quashed the state government notification setting up the special court at Lucknow, the trial stood transferred to the Rae Bareli Court.
The Allahabad High Court on July 6 last had quashed the Rae Bareli Court's September 2003 order discharging Advani from the Ayodhya demolition case.
