The Supreme Court on Friday stayed an inquiry by the Karnataka Lok Ayukta into the alleged irregularities in the construction of the multicrore rupee Bangalore-Mysore Expressway project.
A Bench headed by D K Jain also allowed the former Prime Minister Deve Gowda to be impleaded (to be made a party) in the matter.
The Karnataka High Court had earlier directed a Lok Ayukta inquiry into the multicrore project, after Gowda shot off a letter to it alleging irregularities in the project.
The High Court had ordered the Lok Ayukta inquiry after treating the former prime minister’s letter as PIL.
