Thanks to her nude scene in Mr. Singh Mrs. Mehta, which released yesterday, British actress Aruna Shields has rabbed plenty of eyeballs. Quiz her about her journey and she says, “I rejected this role initially, but after I understood the vision of Pravesh Bharadwaj (director), I came on board.”Shields, who plays a girl from a small town who discovers her husband is cheating on her, adds, “I then have an affair with a painter.”

Talking about the scene in which her co-star Prashant Narayan paints her nude, Shields says, “Nudity is not a major issue till the time the script demands it. But, as an actor, it’s my job to do what the role demands.” Was she nervous during the scene? “I was looked after very well. In fact, Prashant was more nervous than me. It was harder for him to concentrate, I guess,” she laughs.

Was she apprehensive about the Censor Board’s decision on the film? “Yes, we all were. But I am really happy that the Censor Board cleared it without any major changes.”About what she does when she’s not working, Shields says, “I love belly dancing. I even had a pet snake and I used to dance with him. Plus, travelling and adventure sports such as scuba diving and sky diving excite me.”
