Kerala Chief Minister AK Antony on Monday asked why CPI-M was contesting the elections in Kerala when senior CPI-M leader Jyoti Basu had asked the party to support Congress to form a secular democratic government at the Centre.

Addressing a meet the press programme here, Antony expressed satisfaction with the observation of Basu and said it was the correct step to be taken by secular forces in the present political scenario.
Antony, whose 'Navodhana Yatra' started from Kasargode to Thiruvananthapuram reached here on Monday, said the UDF was on the path of victory. UDF and Congress had woken up from its sleep and now the ruling front was on a winning track, he said.
