Through its programme titled, ‘Your World, Your Voice’, BBC Hindi services teams are scheduled to visit 14 different towns of Northern India including UP, Bihar and Jharkhand. Three towns of Eastern UP — Bhadohi, Obra and Renukoot — have been selected for the roadshows.

“The roadshows would begin from November 16 and conclude on December 25”, BBC Hindi Services head Achala Sharma told reporters here, adding, “Your World, Your Voice programme would engage the audience in lively debates which would be broadcast live on the BBC, together will other activities, including street theatre and website demonstrations.”

She said in UP, BBC Hindi services team will meet audience in Bhadohi, Obra and Renukoot discussing issues such as the future of the carpet industry, spread of Naxalism and the effect of big industries on the local environment and quality of life.

Sharma informed that the debates have been inspired by local residents who took part in a specially commissioned research and based on interviews with decision-makers and residents at each of the roadshow locations.

“We always keep our hand on the pulse of India: what concerns them, what their expectations are, what they want to change in their lives”, Sharma said, adding, “The special research commissioned this year was a real treasure-trove, giving us first-hand information, which will form the basis of four roadshow debates as well as our programming in general.
