The Cricket Board on Thursday filed an FIR under various sections of IPC against former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya for alleged misappropriation of funds during the 1996 World Cup.

The FIR was filed by BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah at Marine Drive police station here, senior police inspector Ajit Ranade told reporters.
According to the FIR, the funds were allegedly misappropriated by Dalmiya from "1996 World Cup account" of BCCI in connivance with other persons by preparing false records.
The charges include criminal breach of trust (Section 406), cheating (Section 420), forgery (Section 467) and 120-b (criminal conspiracy).
Accompanied by a BCCI official, Shah came to the police station to lodge the FIR but did not speak to the media.
"I am making a four-sentence statement and I am not open to any questions," senior inspector Ajit Ranade told reporters.
He then said that BCCI has filed an FIR against Dalmiya for alleged misappropriation of funds in connection with the 1996 Cricket World Cup accounts.
The inspector also enumerated the various sections of IPC under which the FIR was lodged. He declined to give further details.
The new BCCI regime, headed by Sharad Pawar, had recently accused Dalmiya of swindling BCCI money during the 1996 World Cup and had also pointed out certain irregularities in the PILCOM account.
The PILCOM (Pakistan-India-Lanka Committee) was formed to conduct the 1996 World Cup which was held in the sub-continent.
